This one of a kind framed collectors carbon fiber suspension piece from Scuderia Ferrari's 1999 F399 F1 Racecar.
At the end of the season, it was signed by Michael Schumacher (Driver), Jean Todt (Executive Director Scuderia Ferrari) and Luca Cordero Di Montezemolo (CEO Ferrari). It was mounted to a 18"x18" carbon wall plaque with an authentic Ferrari fender shield mounted in the middle.
The Ferrari F399 was the car with which the Ferrari team competed in the 1999 Formula One Season. The F399 was almost identical to the previous season's F300 model, with small detail changes (new front wing, wheel tethers, waisted sidepods, an improved exhaust system and the use of Bridgestone tyres with four grooves instead of three).
Eddie Irvine had been forced to play second fiddle to Schumacher, losing out on points and positions in order to place Schumacher higher in the Drivers' Championship, in the rare occasions when he was in front, notably Suzuka 1997 which lead critics to remark "So Irvine can drive!". The leg injury of Michael Schumacher in 1999 reversed the roles however. It appeared to be the year Ferrari would regain the championship with Ferrari winning 3 of the first 4 races of the season. While Ferrari did win the constructor crown that year, a crash at the Silverstone Circuit in the British Grand Prix resulted in Schumacher breaking a leg and missing 7 races of the season, and being replaced by Mika Salo. The new championship challenger was Eddie Irvine, who once again took the Ferrari challenge to the final round in Japan before missing out to Häkkinen who also scored more points in the races where Schumacher had taken part.
This race piece was framed at the factory and designed to celebrate Ferrari's first Constructor's Crown since 1979.
Received directly from Scuderia Ferrari at the end of the season, race used pieces are now very rare due to the espionage problems with Ferrari and McLaren, the team is no longer releasing these pieces to private collectors! Signed certificate of authenticity is of course included. A custom engraved plaque can be created with your text and installed before shipping.
